Mother Knows Best

The first beauty influencer for most of us? Our mothers. She taught us everything from the importance of beauty rest to the benefits of applying moisturizer (and sunscreen!) every day. While we might have rolled our eyes back then, many of those early skincare lessons learned at home still ring true today. In honor of Mother’s Day, we’re sharing the best motherly advice—along with some much-deserved #gratitude.

Wash your face twice a day.

Lather up morning and night you’ll keep your skin balanced and clear.

Always apply creams with upward sweeps—never pull down on skin.

Lift your faceup!—with every motion to avoid wrinkles.

Wear sunscreen. Everyday. Even on cloudy days.

It’s the best anti-aging secret for beautiful, youthful skin for years to come.

Don’t forget your décolletage

Your skincare routine doesn’t end at your chin—apply your creams to your neck, too.

Keep hands away from your face

When is the last time you washed your hands? Please, don’t touch your skin.

Don’t squint!

All those little creases can lead to wrinkles over time.

Moisturize, always moisturize.

It will keep your skin soft, smooth, and supple (along with drinking water—eight glasses a day).

Stick to a consistent routine.

The secret to radiant skinCleanse, tone, and moisturize every day

Don’t wear too much makeup.

You’ll cover up your natural beauty (and clog your pores).

Get your beauty rest.

Eight hours a night works wonder. Elevate your head on a pillow and don’t forget eye cream to prevent puffiness the next day.

Leave blemishes alonenever pick.

You’ll end up with a scar, and your skin will take longer to heal.

Toss expired products!

And while you’re at it, tidy up your bathroom cabinet, too.

Never sleep in your makeup.

Yes, even if you come home lateeven if you’re exhaustedeven if you can barely keep your eyes openyou must take off that mascara and lipstick. Your skin will thank you.
